A group of six criminal teens with very unique skills must overcome traumatic pasts and emotional entanglements to pull off an impossible heist. The author, Gary D. Schmidt, discusses the setting and the characters in the video below. The story centers around eighth-grader Joseph, who became a father at 13 and is now living as a foster child with the Hurd family. Twelve-year-old Jackson Hurd narrates this story and watches Joseph struggle to balance finding a place for himself with his quest to find his daughter, Jupiter.
