PSA Project
Statistics Resources
- FedStats.gov: This site compiles statistics from many different US government agencies and allows you to search several at once. The site itself is somewhat old, so make sure that the data you are finding is current!
- USA.gov: This is a great first stop for lots of different types of research. The Data and Statistics section is key for finding reliable data on various topics.
- Bureau of Justice Statistics: A great place to find statistics related to crime.
Legal Music For Videos
If you’re using music in your PSA, you need to be aware of copyright laws and permissions. Your safest bet is to use music that has a Creative Commons license, meaning that you don’t need to pay for or ask for permission to use their music in your project. Usually, so long as your video gives credit to the musician, you’ve satisfied the Creative Commons license. For more information, as well as websites where you can find Creatieve Commons music, visit http://creativecommons.org/legalmusicforvideos.
You can also use the audio library available from YouTube here.

Digital Storytelling Resources
Here are just a few of the possible tools you can use to create your 30 second PSA. When choosing one, remember to keep your audience in mind. If your PSA is geared toward adults, animation may not be the best way to go. If you’re trying to reach children, an overly-dramatic single-camera shot won’t capture their attention.
