This winter's Lower School theme of Community is alive and well in the library! Last winter the theme of Heroes had us looking at individuals who made a difference. There are plenty of inspiring individuals depicted in these stories, but the role of the communities that ignited and sustained the transformations are the focus for this year. Here are just a few of the titles we will be exploring.
2017 ALA Youth Media Award Winners 1
In fifth grade, the students learn about the many different types of awards given to books written for youth. If you would like to see the complete list of winners, and more information about the different awards, visit the ALA site here.
Where do you find treasure?
In the Marshall Library we will spend the year looking for treasure - in our collection of books. We set sail around the "world of books" to help every reader find something they can treasure.
I am so excited to have the lab in the Marshall Library and looking forward to blending our print and online research activities with ease this year. The new layout in the library has energized even our experienced third grade browsers to see the books with fresh eyes. Come and visit!
